First Bath at Home

I know what your thinking... He's almost 2 weeks old and this is his first bath??? I was hoping to wait long enough for his little cord to fall off, and its really close, just hanging on by a little bit, but tomorrow he goes in for his circumcision so I figured I better get it done today, otherwise it would be awhile. So here is just a quick picture from the tub, he didn't seem to enjoy it very much, but I think that will change once we can really get him wet.
Its not the best picture, but its not showing his manliness, so it will work, believe me his scap book is way more embarrassing and something we will save to show his future girlfriends!!

Mother's Day!!

We spent Mother's day out at my parents house. The kids were excited because it was also Nana's Birthday on Mother's Day. The kids had fun in the pool with Daddy, Papa and Uncle Joe, while I relaxed with Drake and Nana. Here is Daddy and Sean!! Then Mickey decided to get some Daddy love too!!!

This isn't my favorite picture in the whole world, but it gives you an idea of what Drake and I were doing while the kids were in the pool!!

Andrew had a blast playing with his Uncle Joe!!
Sean was also soaking up the papa love!!
I hope all you mothers out there had a great Mother's Day, and that you got to spend it with the ones that you love!!

Jaundice

We took Drake in on Tuesday, May6th, 2008 for his well baby check up. When we weighed him we saw that he had dropped from 8 pounds 11 ounces to 7 pounds 8 ounces. We were very concerned, since Drake had not had a bowel movement since Saturday. When the doctor came in we noticed that Drake was very Jaundice, (yellow in color, even in his eyes you could see it) and we were told that we had a couple of options. We could take a blood test to get his level (approx. 3 hours) and then either hospitalize him or get lamps to take home for him, or take him over to the hospital because there were beds avalible and get him right under the lights and be able to flush it out and get him home the next day. We both opted for the hospital due to the level of Jaundice and the fact that he had not had a bowel movement. At the hospital we could monitor his intake and output. Within minutes of being at the hospital he had already begun to flush out his system, and this is without eating anything. He had several large diapers. We are guessing because my milk took a little longer than expected to come in that he was just now able to start flushing the jaundice out.

Seeing him in the hospital was one of the hardest things that I have ever had to deal with. Here my baby only a few days old is in the hospital and all I can do is sit there and look at him. They had to get an IV in, and because of his dehydration it took a long time to get the IV in.
He did really well for being in the hospital. The only time that he cried was when the nurses came in to take his blood for the test for his Jaundice level. I am glad to say that in a matter of hours, literally overnight he was able to drop his jaundice level dramatically and was able to come home. I am also happy to report that now that he is home is doing very well, eating and sleeping, and even with his bowl movements. He goes back to the doctor on Tuesday for his follow up.

The day has finally come for DRAKE

Just a little post to welcome our little addtion (Well maybe he's not that little) but on Thursday May 1st, 2008 Drake Alderic Nelson Holtz entered the world at 4:45 pm weighing in at 8 pounds 11 ounces.
He doesn't look to happy here, but I had to find one that didn't show off his manly parts. His big sister McKayla was so in love with him, she just could not wait to hold him.

Then Sean Thomas got a chance to hold him, with help of course. He loves to hold him, but only for just a second, just long enough to give him a kiss and then he is ready to be done.

Andrew was also able to hold him at the hospital. Andrew and Drake have a special connection already, they both weighed 8 pounds 11 ounces when they were born.

We were able to take Drake home on Saturday May 3rd, 2008. We were so glad to leave the hospital. We felt love from all of our family and friends that were able to come and visit us, but the hospital stay was not the best in the world.
